'Dosh, Carrollton districts hire new superintendents

Meredosia-Chambersburg School District has hired Hamilton Junior-Senior High School principal Ron Gilbert. He has been the principal for six years and had worked in education for a decade prior to that.
He holds a Masters in Administration and Supervision from the University of Phoenix and is a year away from a doctorate in Education and K-12 Leadership from California Coastal University.
Gilbert is scheduled to start the new position on July 1st, but he says he’ll be coming down twice a month between now and then.
“I will be attending board meetings and also on staff professional development days or the school improvement days, and spending half-days in the district to not only work with staff but also work with the current administrators and get our direction and focus for the next school year,” he says.
Gilbert says he’s excited to get going.
“Very confident that we can make some very positive changes down there in the district. We’re going to work on a lot of the technology-oriented things, and we’re going to start one-on-one initiatives with students and use a lot of technology in the classroom,” says Gilbert.
“Our goal is to initially try and come up with a sixth-through-12th-grade technology plan and try to create a situation where each student would have a Netbook and do a lot of class work and the assignments through paperless transmissions.”
Gilbert replaces Dr. Ruth Schneider, who was terminated from the position last spring for breaching contractual obligations. Her attorney said the firing stemmed from an email sent anonymously to employees of the district that contained a link to a video of Schneider having sex with two men.
The board currently employs Mike Davies as the interim superintendent.
The Carrollton school board will vote on a resolution to hire Glenwood Middle School principal Dr. Kerry Cox as its next head administrator on January 28th, according to current superintendent Dr. Beth Pressler.
According to the Chatham School District’s website, Cox has been in education for 25 years and with the Ball-Chatham School District for 23 years.
She was an assistant principal and principal at Chatham Elementary, assistant principal at Glenwood Middle School and principal at Glenwood Intermediate School prior to her current position.
Dr. Cox is a graduate of Illinois College and Western Illinois University, holding bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Elementary Education, respectively.
