Alleged "fake cop" strikes again in Sangamon County
Undersheriff Jack Campbell says the incident happened in the same area as the first at 3 a.m. Wednesday morning near Old Jacksonville and Farmingdale Roads.
Unlike the first time, Campbell says this time the man used red-and-blue lights on top of his car. He had apparently used a rotating white light the first time Sunday morning at 1:45 a.m.
Campbell believes it’s the same person.
The man’s vehicle is described as an old, small, white four-door car in poor condition. The man is described as a white male, about 50 years old, 5-foot-10 inches to six feet tall with a thin build and possibly salt-and-pepper hair. His voice was high-pitched with a Southern accent.
Anyone who believes they have been stopped by this man should dial 911 immediately. Campbell says anyone with more information who is not directly in danger should call the Sangamon County Detective’s Bureau at 217-753-6840.
