Couple arrested for trying to make meth

Forty-six-year-old Melissa Burnett and 39-year-old Charles Hartman, both of the 400 block of South Diamond, were arrested for aggravated participation in methamphetamine production and possession of meth manufacturing materials.

Police say they received an anonymous tip last night that Burnett and Hartman were going to be making methamphetamine. Officers went to their residence at about 9:00 to investigate the claim and found materials used to make meth after Burnett consented to a search of the apartment.

Police say they didn’t find an active meth lab.

Officers say there was nobody else living at the residence.

Burnett and Hartman remain in custody at the Morgan County Jail.
